***Prime Minister's Internship Scheme Pilot Project (Financial Year 2024-25)***
In continuation of the Government's efforts to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme - Pilot Project (FY 2024-25) has been launched. The scheme, as announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, is aimed at providing internship opportunities to college graduates in India's top 500 companies. This pilot project will offer 1.25 lakh internship opportunities for eligible youth across various sectors.
The following key points are brought to the attention of the principals and staff of all colleges under this Directorate for wide dissemination among students:
1. Objective of the Scheme:
The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in top 500 companies in five years. Through this Scheme, youth will gain exposure for 12 months to real-life business environment, across varied professions and employment opportunities.
2. Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:
Age: Youth aged between 21 and 24 as of the application closing date.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed high school, higher secondary school, ITI certification, or hold diplomas or degrees such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B. Pharma, etc.
Exclusions: Graduates from IITs, IIMs, NLUS, IISER, IIITS, or those holding higher qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, MBA, MBBS, etc., are ineligible. (additional details on https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/guidelines)
3. Internship Structure and Duration
Duration: 12 months.
Experience: At least half of the internship period must be spent in a real business environment, not in classrooms.
4. Financial Assistance
Monthly Stipend: Each intern will receive monthly assistance of Rs. 5,000, of which Rs. 500 will be paid by the participating company and Rs. 4,500 by the government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Incidental Support: A one time grant of Rs. 6,000 will be provided upon the candidate's joining at the internship location.
5. Application and Selection Process:
Registration: Candidates will need www.pminternship.mca.gov.in. To register on the official portal Selection: Shortlisting and selection will be done based on merit and company preferences. Shortlisted candidates will be notified through the portal.
