Message from the College Librarian

The Central Library of Govt. Degree College Vailoo Larnoo is currently housed in a pre-fab hut having inadequate space but every effort has been used to equip the library with all the modern facilities required to supplement the academic requirements of the students, faculty, and staff. There are 12336 books available in the library. The library is well-ventilated and different sections and facilities have been incorporated to facilitate the users like:

  • Smart card printing
  • Fourreck digital signage board for displaying the various books and notices
  • Automated 'Issue-Return' via Soul 2.0 software
  • 5 KVA UPS for hassle power supply
  • Nearby Drinking water facility
  • Librarian cum library staff room

The entire Library collection is automated and bar-coded using SOUL 2.0 software since 2019. The system enables accurate and fast multi-item check-in and check-out; rapid shelf inventory and a fast user-friendly book issue and return process.  A user friendly OPAC Kiosk has been kept for easy and self searching of books by the students and staff. Students and teachers use library resources and get necessary references with Author, name of the book, Accession no. etc, from OPAC Kiosk. A high-end server has been installed to have accurate user control and monitor the usage. The library is providing access to e-resources like NDLI, Swayam and Shodhsindhu. A digital signage board has been installed for the displaying of new arrivals of books, magazines and reference books at the entrance of the library, so that the students may come to know about the new collection available in the library. The said display board also acts as a digital notice board for the students. The library is having CCTV surveillance as 5 Number of CCTV cameras have been installed in the library for tracking the student activities within the library. The efforts to equip the college library with RFID and reading room facility will be given due preference after the shifting of college library to its main building in near future.

Library Rules and Regulations

Library users are advised to adhere strictly to the following instructions.

  • Smoking, Chatting and making noise is strictly prohibited inside the Library.
  • Eatables are not allowed inside the library premises.
  • Mobile Phones should be switched off or put in silent mode.
  • Personal/Private books, bags are not allowed inside the Library. These are to be kept outside/or at property counter at one’s own responsibility.
  • Library does not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage to the personal belongings left in the premises.
  • Tearing off, marking and mutilating books or pages is strictly prohibited.
  • Users are requested to keep their Identity Cards always with them while entering the Library premises or for Issue/Return of books.
  • Reference books to be consulted within the college Library.
  • The books lost or damaged in any way shall have to be replaced by the borrower, failing which double the cost shall be realized from the concerned borrower.
